Sharon Hodges: "Just a country western song waiting to happen", 60x36x2

This is a large work, almost as big as me, and addresses the memory of a special occasion. I think most women can associate a particular dress with a turning point in their lives, and that's when the lyrics for a good old fashioned country western song start germination. Read into that what you will, as it could go many places! This painting will be on display at the 7th Annual Cedars Open Studio Tour next Saturday, Nov 21, 10-6. If you are in Dallas, come start the tour at Studio Art and Soul, 1505 Beaumont, Dallas 75215. Lots of talented working artists will have their work on display! Use the button below to purchase this painting. No need to frame as canvas is gallery wrapped and finished. $3000, free shipping to USA. To see more of my paintings, please visit my BLOG. Thanks for looking.

Sharon Hodges: "See Spot Run", 30x40x2

See Spot splash is more accurate, yes? And 'spot'? how many retrievers do you know named Spot? Not a regal name for one of the smartest working dogs on the planet, nevertheless, you get the idea. This is the start of something new for me, style-wise. First, it is larger (30x40x2)....I am happier painting in a large format, as the size allows for broader, more intense gestures.......and, instead of painting a 'picture', I am trying to capture the raw emotion in a specific moment. If you have ever had the pleasure of observing a well trained retriever on the hunt, you know exactly what I mean....these majestic animals yearn for the moment that they are released to retrieve, in this instance, a fallen duck....and the exploding joy of that moment is palpable. Let me know what you think....To purchase this painting, use the button below, $900 plus s/h. To see more of my paintings, please visit my BLOG. Thanks for viewing my art.

Sharon Hodges: "Got Fish?", 11x14

This still life is painted on a super rough Russian linen canvas...I loved the texture, and it seemed appropriate for this prickly antique tackle. To purchase this painting, please click on the button below. To see more of my paintings, please visit my BLOG. Thanks for looking!

Sharon Hodges: "The Hay Field"

Do you love the smell of fresh baled hay? I am still painting left handed, but my shoulder injury is improving. I like the more rustic feel that this painting shows which is, no doubt, due to execution w/ less developed fine motor skills...kind of like painting when we were children. There is a freshness to that lack of development. This is painted on gallery canvas, no need to frame: 24x24x2, $500 + s/h. To purchase, click button below. Martin Ranch Cow by Kay Wyne

Martin Ranch Cow
Oil on 12" x 12" Gallery Wrap Canvas
This cow needs a name. I photographed her last March when all of the artists at Studio Art and Soul went to John Martin's Ranch. The cows in the pasture were amazing...very colorful, full of personality great to watch. Here is my interpretation of what I saw grazing in the fields. I hope you enjoy this blog...if you would like to view more of my art, please go to my blog. http://kaywyne.blogspot.com/

Leaning Tower of Teacups, 24x24

Another painting from the beautiful collection of antique Fiestaware that I borrowed from Friend Donna. The round handles on these early Fiesta pieces made the most interesting shadows. This painting is considerably more 'controlled' than much of my work, but I felt this was necessary for this composition. To purchase, use the BuyNow button below or email me. Additional works can be seen on my blog. Thanks for visiting.

Bucket of Flowers by Kay Wyne

This contemporary oil painting is full of color. It was inspired by a photograph that I took at the Fayetteville, Arkansas farmer's market. There were buckets and buckets of gorgeous flowers sitting on the ground. If you are interested in viewing more of my art, or would like to visit my blog and website, please go to:

Can't talk, I'm in a meeting..., 24 x 12

Well, of course you are...in a meeting, I mean. Truth be told, this lovely young woman is a friend's daughter who is braver than most when it comes to mixing i-phones and water. I continue my study of water, shadows, and the figure, but my favorite (and most challenging) part of this painting was the tangle of 'pool sweep' hose. My goal was to render the tangle of hose as it weaves and bobs thru the water, under the water, on top of the water...I take a good bit of liberty with color...anyone who has observed these pool sweeps knows that the hose is white, but I felt the dabs of color added more interest and united the painting...I suppose if our eye could actually separate the refraction of the light spectrum, then we would see all these individual little bits of color, so they are there, and I might as well paint them, yes?

Honey, is my back sunburned?, 30 x 40

Yes, maybe a little sunburned...or alot, depends on who you ask. I seem to be executing a series of sunbathers, which is forcing me to paint figures, and I believe I am learning a good bit as this progresses. There are some interesting shapes poolside, particularly the lounges, chairs, etc. I may have a couple more pool paintings in me.

Eleven Eggs by Kay Wyne

This contemporary oil painting is on my favorite size canvas...18" x 18". These eleven eggs are nestled in the nest that has just about every color in it. After painting this one, I have painted several other nests...empty nest, two eggs, three eggs, four eggs and more. Dash Of Red by Kay Wyne - SOLD

Dash of Red was a commission for a friend in Prosper, Texas. This contemporary oil painting is on gallery wrap canvas. I was asked to create something abstract, and given certain colors to work off of. It would be placed on a plain and boring wall, so I knew that the art had to have some pizazz and energy. It took me three days to paint, which is longer than usual for me to crank out a painting. When I borrowed the painting back from the owners to photograph it, my friend said that she and her husband truly missed it on the wall. I am glad it has found the perfect home.
