On the Easel...

On the Easel... Yesterday I painted on a large gallery wrap canvas...started this painting of the Golden Gate Bridge. I was using a photograph John Wyne took about a year ago. The paint is on very thick. I have to put some more shadows and highlights in, along with the cables. I wasn't sure that I had the right orange-red color on the bridge, so I came home from the studio and researched it. Sherwin Williams #6328 is the color on the bridge, so I will stop at a Sherwin Williams and pick up a paint chip. The official color name is Fireweed. We have great memories from that California trip a year ago...makes me want to go back. I can't wait to finish this one up. Maybe my post tomorrow will be the finished painting! Have a great day, and thanks for viewing this blog.

Fish Fry by Kay Wyne

Fish Fry
Oil on 18" x 18" Gallery Wrap Canvas

Here is the larger fish in skillet painting...It has broad brush strokes and more detail than yesterday's posting. It is on a gallery wrap canvas, 18" x 18". It is larger and looser. I have been corrected by the person who caught these fish. They are probably brook or brown trout. But not rainbow. I think I wanted them to be rainbow because in my mind, they would be colorful. But I stand corrected. This painting will be on display at the upcoming studio tour.
I hope to see you there!

Martin Ranch Cow by Kay Wyne

Martin Ranch Cow
Oil on 12" x 12" Gallery Wrap Canvas
This cow needs a name. I photographed her last March when all of the artists at Studio Art and Soul went to John Martin's Ranch. The cows in the pasture were amazing...very colorful, full of personality great to watch. Here is my interpretation of what I saw grazing in the fields. I hope you enjoy this blog...if you would like to view more of my art, please go to my blog. http://kaywyne.blogspot.com/

It is sold, but I may paint another lamb, but of course it won't be the same...maybe it will be related to Lamb Chops. It looks like we are going to have a good weekend in Dallas....sunny and cool. I hope to get to the studio and paint. Have an artful weekend!!! Thanks for viewing this blog.

New York City by Kay Wyne

New York City

Southwestern Stairs by Kay Wyne

This painting is full of color and texture. I used a palette knife on the stucco walls and stairs. The colors are deep and rich. This painting is a reminder to me how different the architectural elements in New Mexico structures are from those of Dallas. This painting is sold, but if you would like to view any other works of art, please visit my blog: http://kaywyne.blogspot./

On the easel...by Kay Wyne

This painting is just getting going....I was painting this individual because I really liked the tiny photograph that I found. His personality seemed to shine in this picture that was taken of him years ago. This is my Uncle Orville, my great uncle. I emailed his daughter to ask permission to paint him, and she said that I could! But, after struggling with the details of his face (could not see very well, even with the help of a magnifyng glass) I am hoping to get a larger photo. So, along with my New Orleans painting and several unfinished paintings, this is what is on my easel today. I can't wait to get to the studio and throw some paint around!

Celebration by Kay Wyne

Celebration
Oil on 36" x 36" Gallery Wrap Canvas

This abstract started out as a painting with a horizon, but ended up being a Celebration painting. It took me a several weeks to complete this, because the canvas is so large, and I layered the paint, it took a long time to cover the canvas. I used brushes and knives on this canvas. You can see flecks of paint that appear to be confetti in this painting. The vivid colors are playful and fun. If you are interested in this painting, or any of my other works of art, please contact me. Thanks for viewing this blog!
