This painting is done entirely in pigmented wax (encaustic). It is a very interesting medium. I love the surprise I get with my paintings. Once I have painted with the wax, I then fuse it with a hot blow gun. At that point, I lose most of my control. SURPRISE!
I'm starting a new blog devoted to encaustics, please bookmark it and keep up with the updates. It is too hot (in Texas) to work in encaustic, so this fall I will be posting new paintings. Until then, I will be posting my pieces from past cool weather seasons.
I love this and can't wait until the weather cools so that I can learn to do this.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool....You must do more of these.
